Introducing: Pesto Beta Testing System

We're introducing a new beta testing system that allows Pesto users to test new features before they're generally available.

With our continued focus on stability, we've created a new feature roll out process in order to minimize disruptions to your Pesto experience. Our opt-in beta testing system will allow us to share new features with a subset of users who have tempered expectations and understand the new features will have bugs. With the help of these users, we'll be able to discover bugs quicker and therefore push out features faster.

How It Works

You can easily switch between Beta or General Availability at any time at a user or team level.

User Level

If you would like to personally test new beta features, you can go to your Settings > Account > User release track

Team Level

If your whole team would like to test the new Beta features and you're an admin of your team you can go to Team Settings > General > Team release track

Note: We also have an alpha track that isn't available by default, as it may have highly unstable features that significantly degrade your experience. If you're interested in being an alpha user, please reach out to us through the Pesto support chat.

Once features are ready to be pushed out to general availability, they'll be incrementally released on an increasing % basis. For example, the day the feature is released only 20% of teams will have it at first. Then a couple of hours later, 40% of teams will have the feature and so on and so forth. That way if there are any major issues it won't affect all users at once. This is another process improvement that we'll be implementing to help improve stability.

Beta Feature: Sound Reactions

Our first feature that is available to test in Beta is sound reactions! Sound reactions allow you to send sound effect reacts to everyone in the room. It's a fun way to liven up your conversations and meetings.

How It Works

To access sound reactions, hover over the react button and you'll see the sound effect options. The sound effect will play for everyone in the room. In its current state, you can only send sound effects when you're unmuted.

Please note you need to be in a room with another person for the sound reactions to show up. They won't show up if you're by yourself (we will fix this soon).

Demo of how the sound board feature works

You can also save your own sounds by going to My User Settings > Audio and Video > Sound Board

Uploaded sounds must be less than 10 seconds long and be a mp4, mp3, ogg, or wav file. All uploaded sounds are saved locally, so if you upload a sound it won't show up for everyone on your team.

Any Questions?

If you have any questions on how the beta testing system works or would like to be added as an alpha user, feel free to reach out to us via the support chat in your Pesto team or email us at [email protected].
